Brandon Clark Community LAC Member Link Role: Quality of Education

I have been a co-opted member of Charnwood’s Local Academy Council (LAC) since June 2023, and I am myself a former pupil of Charnwood (before it became an Academy!). I wanted to become a Governor because I wanted to use my still recent experiences in primary education to improve how the school operates for everyone. In my time as a member of the LAC, I have held key Link Governor roles, in areas including Mathematics and Safeguarding. Currently, I am the Link Governor for ‘Quality of Education’, overseeing several key areas being implemented. These include the implementation of the Curriculum, the provision and support that is available to children with special educational needs/disabilities (SEND) and the accessibility and information provided to parents and pupils on the school’s website. I am currently in the final year of my degree at the University of Birmingham, and I am looking into getting into primary teaching myself once I graduate, something I feel inspired to do having been a co-opted member of the LAC of my old primary school.

Nicola Turner Staff LAC Member I have proudly served as a member of the Local Academy Committee (LAC) since 2023. In addition to my governance role, I am the Early Years and Phonics Lead and the Reception Class Teacher. My decision to join the LAC stemmed from a deep commitment to representing and advancing the areas of Early Years education and Early Reading within our school community. Being part of the committee has provided me with valuable insight into the strategic decisions that shape our school’s direction. It has also strengthened my understanding of how my teaching role contributes to broader whole-school priorities. I am passionate about ensuring that our youngest learners receive the strongest possible foundation, and I am dedicated to driving excellence in early education across the school. None
