The role of the Local Academy Council is to contribute to the development of the Academy, providing support and challenge from the perspective of pupils, parents and stakeholders in the future success of the Academy.
The Local Academy Council will carry out its duties in a manner which will enable the objectives for the Academy to be achieved and will provide regular reports of its activity to the Academy Trust. The Local Academy Council shall have oversight of the academies activities and duties outlined in the schedule of delegation document.

| Brandon Clark | Vice chair of the LAC | Link Role: Quality of Education
I have proudly served as a LAC Member for Charnwood Primary Academy – my Primary alma mater – since June 2023, as a Co-opted/Community Governor. In October 2025, it was an absolute pleasure to take up the role of Vice Chair of Governors – making my educational journey really come full circle. I have recently graduated from the University of Birmingham, with a first-class degree in Politics, and since September 2025, I have been a Trainee Teacher myself, with The John Taylor SCITT. In my role as a LAC Member, I have been the Link Governor for a plethora of areas, beginning with Mathematics and Safeguarding. Following a Link Governor role restructuring in September 2024, I have been the Link Governor for Charnwood’s ‘Quality of Education’: namely SEND provision, the school’s Curriculum, and school website. Moreover, earlier this year, I again took on the Safeguarding brief. It is an absolute pleasure to work with my fellow LAC members, the SLT, and other Charnwood stakeholders to contribute to Charnwood’s continuing success. |

| Nicola Turner | Staff LAC Member | I have proudly served as a member of the Local Academy Committee (LAC) since 2023. In addition to my governance role, I am the Early Years and Phonics Lead and the Reception Class Teacher. My decision to join the LAC stemmed from a deep commitment to representing and advancing the areas of Early Years education and Early Reading within our school community. Being part of the committee has provided me with valuable insight into the strategic decisions that shape our school’s direction. It has also strengthened my understanding of how my teaching role contributes to broader whole-school priorities. I am passionate about ensuring that our youngest learners receive the strongest possible foundation, and I am dedicated to driving excellence in early education across the school. | None

My main passion is encouraging a love of history, which I have done through my employment at Birmingham Museums Trust, a local history author, a city tour guide and Director of a local Community Interest CIC group, Lichfield Discovered. I joined Charnwood LAC in 2021, so have been a parent governor for the last 4 years. Both of my children currently attend Charnwood, Y3 and Y5. I joined the LAC to help support the school, provide parental input into school policies and help support learning opportunities within the community. |

SUAT supports and leads in the set-up of new academies joining the partnership. The services provided by the central support function cover both educational and non-educational support. In terms of educational support, SUAT is linked to the School of Education of Staffordshire University, which is an outstanding ITT provider.
