At Charnwood we aim to inspire curious citizens of the future

We do this by aiming to build the science capital of all of our pupils.

This is achieved through teaching the National Curriculum in an engaging and hands on way from EYFS to Year 6. We ensure that pupils are experiencing science in the real world and encountering the ways that it benefits our lives. We encourage children to explore the world around them through questioning and investigation and teach them about the careers that involve this knowledge.

Teachers make an effort to link science learning to the class topic and work is celebrated through stickers, certificates and displaying work in classrooms, corridors or sharing it with parents.

School Leaders regularly monitor the teaching and learning of science across the school and the subject is continually in development in the quest for improvement.

For further information on the objectives that pupils are taught throughout KS1and KS2 please see the coverage map below. For EYFS information please see the information on the EYFS page looking at Understanding the World.
