Statement of Intent

At Charnwood we aim to inspire curious citizens of the future . We do this by aiming to build science capital of all of our pupils. This is achieved through teaching the National Curriculum in an engaging and hands on way from EYFS to Year 6. We ensure that pupils are experiencing science in the real world and encountering the ways that it benefits our lives. We encourage children to explore the world around them through scientific enquiry. Children will develop their questioning and investigation skills. We will teach them about the careers that involve this knowledge.

School Leaders regularly monitor the teaching and learning of science across the school and the subject is continually in development in the quest for improvement.

For further information on the objectives that pupils are taught throughout KS1and KS2 please see the coverage map below. For EYFS information please see the information on the EYFS page looking at Understanding the World.
