Spring term 1
This term, the children will be reading ‘The Nowhere Emporium’, which is a book filled with magical wonders held closely by a mysterious gentleman called Mr Silver. The children will become one of the main characters, ending the unit writing a diary entry. This diary will contain all of ‘Daniel’s’ worries and fears as he begins to realise just what ‘Mr Silver’ is capable of!
Daily reading (the same Autumn 2) will continue – with a focus on SATs practice.
Daily arithmetic will continue to build on fluency and speed.
Maths units this term will be ratio, decimals and percentages. However, we will also continue to focus on previous units in our think back sessions.
P.E. days will remain the same:
Tuesdays indoor (gymnastics)
Thursdays outdoor (orienteering)
Please send your child in the appropriate clothing, following our school policy.
Also, if for any reason your child is unable to do P.E., please send in a signed note.
We hope you have had a wonderful and restful Christmas holiday and cannot wait to welcome you back on Tuesday 6th January.
Autumn term 2
This term, the children will be reading ‘The Last Wild’, following Kester’s story as he embarks on a journey with an unusual friend – a cockroach. The children will be writing Part 2 of his story when he saves ‘The Last Wild’ with his new antennaed friend!

Daily reading will continue, where the children will study different texts and the comprehension of them. We will do this by focusing on vocabulary, retrieval and our inference skills.
In maths, the children will be starting their fractions unit, which will continue for the whole of the half term.
Daily arithmetic will still take place and this will primarily focus on retrieval practice.
In DT, we will be making some Christmas decorations.
Then, in Science, we will be studying electricity and in geography, we will be exploring mountains.
P.E. will continue on a Tuesday (indoor) and Thursday (outdoor). Please send your child in the appropriate clothing, following our school policy.
Mrs Chapman and Mrs Dolman are looking forward to this fun-filled festive half term!
