History: The Anglo-Saxons!
This half term, our history topic takes us back over 1,500 years to the time of the Anglo-Saxons—a group of tribes from what is now Germany, Denmark, and the Netherlands who sailed across the sea to settle in Britain after the Romans left.
The Anglo-Saxons built villages, farmed the land, and formed powerful kingdoms like Wessex, Mercia, and Northumbria. They spoke Old English, worshipped gods like Woden and Thor, and later converted to Christianity. Their stories, battles, and discoveries—like the famous Sutton Hoo burial site—help us understand how England began to take shape.
