Welcome to Year 4! This is an exciting year where children continue to grow in confidence, independence and responsibility. We are looking forward to a year full of engaging learning opportunities, creativity and new experiences as children develop both academically and personally.
Year 4 have PE twice each week

This half term we will be studying Varjak Paw by S.F. Said. Children will use this exciting text to inspire their writing and will develop their skills by creating a recount linked to the story.
Our learning will focus on:
Children will develop fluency, reasoning and problem-solving skills through practical and written activities.
Children will read texts linked to our English learning and explore a range of comprehension skills including vocabulary, retrieval, inference and prediction. Alongside this, they will continue reading their own independent books.

Our Science topics this half term are:
Children will work scientifically through investigations, observations and practical enquiries.
In History, children will learn about Invaders and Settlers, exploring how different groups came to Britain and the impact they had on life in the past.
Children will study Plant Art, exploring natural forms and developing their drawing and observational skills.
Our Computing topic is Computing Systems and Networks – The Internet. Children will learn how the internet works, how information travels online and how to stay safe when using technology.
Our topic is My Healthy Self, where children will explore how they can make healthy choices and take care of both their physical and mental wellbeing.
This half term we will explore the question:
“Are all religions equal?”
Children will learn about different faiths and beliefs while developing respect, understanding and curiosity about the wider world.
Year 4 children will take part in Entrust Violin lessons, developing their musical skills through learning to play an instrument and performing together.
