Welcome to Little Leaves Nursery!
We are so excited to begin this new school year together. Our classroom is ready to be buzzing with curiosity, laughter and new friendships.
Our priority is to make sure every child feels happy, safe and cared for, while also being encouraged to try new things and develop a love of learning.
We can’t wait to share lots of stories, songs, adventures and creative activities as we begin this exciting journey together.

Autumn 1 Learning
This autumn, our children will be settling into school life and exploring the theme of “All About Me”.
As they begin their school journey, the children will be encouraged to grow in independence – learning daily routines, looking after their belongings and beginning to make healthy choices.
Through circle times, games and role play, we’ll be exploring feelings, friendships and how we can use kind hands, kind words and kind feet. Alongside this, we will be sharing and modelling our school values of Respect, Independence, Dedication and Integrity, helping children to understand how these look in action each day.
We will enjoy plenty of protected story times, which will include a weekly focus text, daily Super Six rhyme sessions and a wealth of other opportunities to nurture a love of books. To support this further, the children will begin practising Phase 1 phonics, which marks the very start of their exciting reading journey. Through stories, songs and play, they will be learning how to listen carefully, share their ideas and build conversations with friends and adults
There will be lots of opportunities for creativity through drawing, painting, music and imaginative play, as well as developing early writing and mark-making skills. We will practise these in many different ways, including our weekly Drawing Club sessions. In maths, children will explore colours, patterns, sorting and counting through fun, hands-on activities.
Outdoors, the children will continue to strengthen their gross motor skills with climbing, riding bikes and scooters, and playing movement games. They will also take part in our fortnightly Woodland Mornings, giving them the chance to explore nature, develop independence, and enjoy learning in the outdoor environment. These sessions help to build teamwork, resilience and curiosity, while giving children the freedom to learn through hands-on experiences in the natural world.
We’ll also be exploring the world around us by talking about our families, our homes and the seasonal changes we see in autumn. Throughout these activities, children will be encouraged to notice similarities and differences between themselves and others, helping them to celebrate what makes each of us unique.
It promises to be an exciting term!
