Welcome to Year 6! This is an exciting and important year as children prepare for their transition to secondary school. Alongside their learning, Year 6 pupils enjoy many special experiences including the Year 6 residential camp, SATs, leavers’ celebrations and end-of-year performances. They will also have the opportunity to nominate classmates for leadership roles such as Team Captains and Prefects.
Whilst the younger children take part in a Christmas production, Year 6 spend the autumn term focusing on building independence, resilience and the skills they will need for a successful transition to high school before the fun of the summer celebrations begins!

This half term we will be studying The Last Bear by Hannah Gold. Children will use this engaging text to develop their reading, writing and discussion skills. They will write imaginative letters inspired by the story and explore how authors create atmosphere, character and emotion.

In Computing, pupils will learn about Computing Systems and Networks: Communication, exploring how digital systems communicate and how technology supports modern life.
Our topic is My Healthy Self, where children will consider how the choices they make now can positively influence their future health and wellbeing.
